Caballero Grill Announces Culinary Scholarship

Caballero Grill

Caballero Grill has just announced that they will be presenting a $1,000 scholarship to a worthy candidate currently enrolled in the culinary program at Estrella Mountain Community College. The winner will also have their entrée added to the Caballero Grill menu. The deadline to sign up for students meeting the criteria is November 2nd at 5 p.m. Judging/final tastings will take place on November 14th from 1 to 3 p.m. In addition to several members of the Estrella Mountain Community College staff, Caballero Grill partners, Paul Fratella and Anthony Guerriero will be judging the competition.

In addition to being enrolled in the culinary program, all candidates must have completed one semester at Estrella Mountain Community College, have a minimum GPA of 2.5 and have the ability to prepare an entrée that fits into the established Cabellero Grill menu.

All candidates will take part in a “Top Chef” style cook-off and will need to describe their recipe and cooking methods, the cost computations for the dish as well as the taste, presentation and temperature of the items served.

“Caballero Grill is dedicated to helping today’s youth as they decide on their future careers. We want to do everything we can to help those that want to get into the restaurant and culinary industry and felt that this schol arship was a great way to see some talented future chefs continue their education,” said Paul Fratella, operating partner for Caballero Grill. “There are many talented future chefs out there that may have dreams of opening their own restaurant one day—just like my partner Anthony Guerriero and I did many years back—and this is our way of helping them see their aspirations come to fruition.”
