More than 100 blankets and towels were delivered to the Arizona Humane Society thanks to efforts by studenHumane Society Donation - April 2015ts in the Veterinary Assisting program at Carrington College’s Phoenix North Campus, located at 8503 N. 27th Ave. The April 3 donation to the local Humane Society was the result of a month-long collection effort by students as part of the Carrington Cares community outreach program. Carrington Cares empowers campuses nationwide to connect students and faculty with their local community through fundraising and volunteer opportunities.

“For nearly a decade, our veterinary students have supported the Humane Society through regular donation drives for items including toys, food and – of course – blankets and towels,” said Sandy Moore, director of the Veterinary Assisting program at Carrington’s Phoenix North Campus.

“What I hear most from employers is the need for health care professionals to have exceptional soft skills – which are not easy to teach and even tougher to demonstrate in a job application,” Moore said.  “From bedside manner to projecting maturity and empathy for others, Carrington takes great pride in not just educating its students on the technical aspects of the job, but empowering them to make this world a better place, one act of caring at a time.”

Carrington College offers a variety of programs that lead to a certificate or associate degree. Programs prepare students for careers in the medical, dental and veterinary fields.
