David J. Bodney, who leads Ballard Spahr‘s Media Law Group, has been named to a two-year term as Chair of the American Bar Association’s Forum on Communications Law. Nearly 2,200 lawyers in print, broadcast, online, and mobile media and the telecommunications industries belong to the group.The Forum on Communications Law is charged with keeping its members up to date on cutting-edge issues in defamation, privacy, commercial speech, freedom of information, data collection and use, FCC regulation, and First Amendment law.
The Forum’s 20th Annual Conference will be held February 5-7, 2015, in Scottsdale. As Chair, Bodney will oversee planning for the annual conference as well as the five committees within the Forum. “The Forum on Communications Law enables us to exchange ideas and keep current on the latest developments in communications law so we can better serve our clients,” said Bodney. “It also serves as a great resource for media lawyers — through its educational materials and conferences.”
