Employee-owned Suntec Concrete, the Southwest’s largest concrete subcontractor, has launched Suntec University, a comprehensive in-house training and development program equipping Suntec employees with skills that empower them in their work, families and communities.
Based on three program pillars – Relationships, Leadership and Growth – Suntec University provides expansive curriculum offerings designed to develop leaders, strengthen teams and foster employee success and growth, helping to build a stronger company, culture and future.
“Employees who feel inspired and supported will show up as their best selves every day,” says Suntec Concrete President and CEO Derek Wright. “That Suntec University philosophy wholly aligns with our overarching commitment to invest in Suntec’s people and their families at every opportunity — from continuous learning to our new status as a 100% employee-owned company. We are extremely excited to announce the launch of Suntec University and look forward to all that it will contribute to our collective future.”
Aligned with Suntec’s purpose to build legacies through relationships, expertise, innovation, gratitude and families, Suntec University programming includes:
- Life Skills Training: Hands-on instruction in communication, community engagement and financial literacy that supports employee success both in and out of the workplace.
- Leadership Development: Empowering current and emerging leaders with the skills to manage teams, make strategic decisions and drive project success.
- Industry Knowledge: Training that deepens participants’ understanding of safety and sustainability, so that every crew member can lead with confidence and build with purpose.
Suntec University’s inaugural campus is a dedicated hub in Phoenix that offers classrooms, gathering and office space. A developing initiative, the program will ultimately expand into each Suntec operating market, with future components to include mentorship opportunities, career-pathing resources and outreach that extends the Suntec University platform into communities.
