Banner Health Acquires Hematology Oncology Practice in Northwest Valley

Banner Health announced the acquisition of Sonoran Hematology and Oncology, a well-established practice located in Peoria, Arizona.

As a result of the acquisition, Dr. Shelly Gandhok, a widely known and well-respected hematologist-oncologist, will join Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center. Gandhok’s practice members will join, as well.

“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Gandhok and her team into Banner MD Anderson,” said Dr. Rogerio Lilenbaum, senior physician executive for oncology at Banner MD Anderson. “This practice has provided outstanding care to patients in the northwest Valley, and we look forward to them joining us in our mission in providing high-quality cancer care.’’

Dr. Gandhok said she was thrilled by the move. “Sonoran Hematology and Oncology is very excited to join Banner MD Anderson, a nationally recognized leader in multidisciplinary cancer treatment and research.

“Having practiced hematology and oncology in Peoria for 15 years, I am committed to patient-focused, compassionate care for our community and continuing to provide care for our patients and their families. We look forward to combining strengths to provide cutting-edge, innovative cancer treatments to our patients in the northwest Valley,’’ said Dr. Gandhok.
