In a move that will expand access to high-quality, high-value surgical care in the booming West Valley, Apricus Health soon will cut the ribbon on new surgery centers in Avondale and Surprise.
The physician-led and -founded company that delivers a 24/7 superior health care experience and quality for the community, will open Apricus Health Surgery Centers of Avondale and Surprise in mid-2022.
“As Arizona’s population continues to grow, so does the need for community-based, high-quality surgical care,” said Dr. Kishlay Anand, President of Apricus Health. “This is especially true in the West Valley. Our new surgical centers are part of a larger plan to address the health care needs of this community and serve patients in a proactive, coordinated and supportive manner.”
According to WESTMARC data, the West Valley is projected to grow at twice the national rate over the next five years. By 2030, the area will be home to 2.1 million residents by 2030 – up from 1.7 million today.
Each of the new surgery centers is equipped to serve 5,000 patients each year. They represent a combined investment of more than $10 million.
Apricus Health Surgery Center of Avondale is located on the first floor of the newly constructed Akos Medical Campus on 107th Avenue and McDowell Road. Forty clinicians and administrative employees will staff the 10,320 square-foot center, which will offer three operating rooms, two procedure rooms and 16 patient care bays.
Apricus Health Surgery Center of Surprise, located on Bell and El Mirage Roads, is a joint venture with Peak Heart & Vascular, a Surprise-based medical group providing cardiology care. The 11,196-square-foot center will employ 60 staff members and will include three operating rooms, one catheterization laboratory and 13 patient care bays.
“Our new facilities are staffed by highly experienced clinicians and offer top-of the line surgical equipment, well-appointed patient rooms and common areas, and a patient navigation team to simplify the health care process from beginning to end,” Anand said. “With our value-based care model, we can offer West Valley patients a top-of-the-line surgical experience at a lower cost and in a convenient location.”
Both surgery centers are equipped for non-emergent surgeries and procedures. They will be Medicare certified and fully accredited by the Joint Commission.
Apricus Health’s new surgery centers are part of a wave of expansion in the West Valley and throughout the state. The health system soon will open a new micro-hospital in Avondale, and, in July, the company will open the Apricus Health Sun City Imaging Center. Located a few miles from the Apricus Health Surgery Center in Surprise, the imaging center will provide complementary services just a few miles away. Apricus Health also just marked the topping-out of its new Flagstaff Medical Campus, a micro-hospital that will open in phases beginning later this year.
“At the heart of our growth strategy is a commitment to providing a fully integrated, value-based care model that puts patients at the center of the health care experience,” Anand said.
Created by Arizona physicians, Apricus Health is a health care company providing members a direct one-on-one relationship with health care providers and Care Navigators who are accessible from any location to diagnose and treat a wide range of medical conditions. Through robust technology, 24/7 care management and near real-time analytics, Apricus Health is changing the care delivery model, helping physicians who work in Value-Based Care environments improve care outcomes while reducing health costs.
