Genuine Concepts, the Phoenix-founded restaurant group, is excited to announce the opening of an all-new, neighborhood-centric location of The VIG in late spring. Custom built inside (and unwinding right out onto the open-air courtyards) of the Village Square at Dana Park on the NW corner of Val Vista Drive and Baseline Road, The VIG Dana Park (1744 S Val Vista Drive, Suite 5-101, Mesa, AZ 85204) is the seventh completely bespoke location of the Valley’s favorite neighborhood hangout. As with every VIG, this new location has been shaped and crafted by the unique history of the area, from the wall art to the welcoming front porch (aka an Arizona Room) that doubles as a verdant, trellis-topped dining patio, and the rambling interior reminiscent of a grand Mesa ranch house.
“The VIG has always been known for our fun outdoor spaces where you can eat, sip and linger, so when it came to our first-ever East Valley location we knew we wanted a welcoming, ranch house vibe that really honored this classic Mesa neighborhood,” says architect Artie Vigil of ARV3 Design Studio. “And what’s a better greeting than a spacious, convivial front porch and patio, rather than hiding everything around back.” Unspooling across nearly half of the restaurant’s space, the 2,500 square foot patio seats up to 90 people nestled under a soaring, mostly open-air space topped with a sun-filtering trellis and jam-packed with verdant greenery and potted plants.
Stepping inside, The VIG Dana Park boasts all the features fans have come to expect, including an oversize copper-topped bar surrounded by cozy banquette seating, plus a more intimate dining space tucked in the back that also doubles as a private event space. Best described as Mesa Modern, the wooden jewel box interior features carbon gray tiles, nostalgic old west-style leather booths, and copper accents. During daytime the interior is bright, sunny, while at night the custom lighting system features a mix of residential style floor lamps and romantic spotlighting that shines on the tables but otherwise lets guests enjoy the lounge-like low lighting. Finally, the walls are bedecked in custom artwork that honors the area’s farming and ranching history.
Led by renowned chef, Jeremy Pacheco, The VIG Dana Park will be open daily for lunch and dinner, plus weekend brunch and weekday happy hour from 3-6 pm. First founded in 2006 with the opening of The VIG Arcadia, The VIG Dana Park is the latest location for this hyper-local, community-driven tavern. Proudly based in Phoenix, Genuine Concepts is the neighborhood-focused restaurant group behind The VIG, The Little Woody, The Womack, The Genuine and Campo Italian Bistro & Bar.
