Tempe-based Spinato’s Pizzeria & Family Kitchen is expanding to the West Valley with plans to open a new restaurant in Goodyear in 2027. The family- and-employee-owned restaurant signed a lease with Globe Corporation to build a new restaurant in GSQ-Goodyear Civic Square, located at the northwest corner of 150th Drive and McDowell Road in Goodyear. Construction of the building has commenced, and the shell will be turned over to Spinato’s in May 2027 to begin the interior improvements. The restaurant is expected to open in the fourth quarter of 2027.
Spinato’s has been serving guests in the Valley since 1974. Best known for its Chicago-style pizza, Spinato’s also serves delicious sandwiches, pastas, calzones, salads, homemade desserts as well as gluten-free, keto-friendly and other healthy menu options.
The Goodyear restaurant will be Spinato’s seventh restaurant location in metro Phoenix. Spinato’s also serves guests at six locations in Tempe, Scottsdale, Gilbert, Ahwatukee, Central Phoenix and North Phoenix. As the “Official Pizza” of the Arizona Cardinals, the Phoenix Suns and the Phoenix Mercury, Spinato’s also serves fresh pizza at concession stands at State Farm Stadium in Glendale and Mortgage Matchup Center in downtown Phoenix.
Anthony Spinato, Spinato’s CEO, said the decision to expand into the West Valley came after many years of passionate requests from guests who were driving far to dine at Spinato’s.
“We are grateful that so many of our longtime, loyal guests have taken the time to drive far from their homes to dine at our restaurants. We heard them, and we are so excited to welcome them to our new Goodyear location next year,” Spinato said.
Spinato credits Joe Stewart, City of Goodyear Interim Economic Development Deputy Director, with helping him find the “perfect fit” for Spinato’s expansion to the West Valley.
“Joe told me about GSQ, drove me around Goodyear, and really shared a lot about the community,” he said. “I just fell in love with the civic square. It reminds me of Scottsdale Civic Center…very cozy, with farmers markets and concerts. It’s just a great place where families and friends go out and gather.”
He also credits Globe Corporation owner George Getz and CFO Mike Olsen with helping to attract Spinato’s to the civic square location.
“They were very intentional with their choice of Spinato’s and wanted a long-term partnership and great community tenant. They deserve a lot of credit for why we chose that specific space,” he said.
The new Goodyear restaurant will be a ground-up build-to-suit project. Spinato’s plans to add 75 to 95 new part-time and full-time team members.
“Thanks to Globe Corporation, the building will fit our footprint. That’s rare because it requires getting involved early enough in the project and working with an ownership and landlord team willing to give us some creative control,” he said.
Goodyear Mayor Joe Pizzillo said their community is eager for Spinato’s to open in the new GSQ-Goodyear Civic Square.
“Spinato’s is a well-loved Arizona brand and one of the restaurant concepts most requested by residents through the city’s retail survey,” said Goodyear Mayor Joe Pizzillo. “Their decision to open at GSQ reflects the continued momentum of our downtown and the strong demand for quality dining experiences in Goodyear. We are excited to welcome Spinato’s and look forward to their success as part of our growing community.”
George Getz, owner and president of Globe Corporation, said GSQ-Goodyear Civic Square is shaping up to be the true heart of the city.
“Our family bought the property in 1970, just four years before Spinato’s opened its first restaurant in the Valley. We have watched as Spinato’s has grown and have always felt like our core values are aligned. We’re all very excited to welcome Spinato’s to Goodyear,” Getz said.
Spinato’s Pizzeria & Family Kitchen has relocated one of its older restaurants in North Phoenix to 1107 E. Bell Road, Suites 1 & 2, closer to the busy 7th Street and Bell Road intersection.
The larger, more modern space features spacious seating options, an indoor and outdoor bar, an enclosed patio with misters and heaters, a private dining room, a separate “To Go” area for pickup and delivery, and an expanded food and drink menu. The restaurant is slated to open to the public on Tuesday, July 14.
Spinato said the old location did not have enough hood space for Spinato’s current expanded menu. In addition, the bar was small and they only served beer and wine at that location.
“We are grateful to our North Phoenix guests, many of whom have been with us since we opened in that location in 1993,” Spinato said. “The décor of our new location pays tribute to our loyal guests, and we have also created a new specialty ‘Saved by the Bell’ margherita cocktail that will only be available at our new Bell Road location. We invite everyone to come enjoy our expanded food and drink menu and family-friendly, welcoming ambiance.”
Spinato’s Pizzeria also recently extended its kitchen hours for all restaurants, giving guests more chances to enjoy delicious pizzas, pastas, salads and desserts. The new hours are: Tuesday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Spinato’s is closed on Mondays.
