Glass Doctor Auto of North Central Phoenix is preparing to open, bringing a new locally owned auto glass business to the community under the ownership of one of the region’s veteran pharmaceutical and bioscience leaders. Janet Spear, who spent three decades in pharmaceutical manufacturing in the Greater Phoenix area and served in leadership roles across Arizona’s bioscience and business community, is coming out of retirement to build a family business alongside her son, Jacob Krum, who will serve as General Manager.
Spear’s career in pharmaceutical manufacturing spanned more than 30 years. She spent much of it as Plant Manager at Celgene in the Greater Phoenix area, and later served as General Manager at Bristol-Myers Squibb. Over the course of her career she became a recognized figure in Arizona’s bioscience and economic development community, holding leadership and board roles that included Director of the Arizona Bioscience Board, member of the BioScience Roadmap Steering Committee at the Flinn Foundation, and roles with the Greater Phoenix Economic Council, the Arizona Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Arizona BioIndustry Association.
Located at 344 W Hatcher Rd in Phoenix, Glass Doctor Auto of North Central Phoenix is expected to open in the third quarter of this year. The business will offer the full range of Glass Doctor Auto services, including automotive glass repair and replacement for drivers throughout the North Central Phoenix area.
“After a career spent leading operations in pharmaceuticals, I wanted to build something of my own, and to build it with my family,” said Janet Spear, owner of Glass Doctor Auto of North Central Phoenix. “Glass Doctor is a trusted brand with a strong reputation for quality and service. Bringing that to my own community, with my son running the operation day to day, is exactly the kind of work I want to be doing now.”
For Spear, the new business is a return to the operational leadership that defined her career, now applied to a hands-on, community-focused enterprise. The standards of precision, process, and quality that shaped her decades in pharmaceutical manufacturing are the same standards she intends to bring to how the franchise serves its customers.
