U.S. Egg Brunch + Cocktails is reopening after a 15-month closure and a full rebuild from a devastating 2024 fire. The beloved family-owned brunch spot known for its original protein pancakes has officially reopened its Tempe location at 131 E. Baseline Road. The reopening marks a major milestone for the family-owned restaurants’ 40th anniversary.
The Tempe location was forced to close in October 2024 due to an after-hours fire from a water heater that spread to the roof, causing major fire and water damage. The $1.9 million complete rebuild involved five insurance companies throughout the restoration process that involved rebuilding the restaurant down to the studs. During the closure, all 36 Tempe employees were reassigned to the five other U.S. Egg Phoenix metro locations, ensuring no employee lost their job.
“We are incredibly grateful to open our doors again after such a long and emotional journey,” said George Gebran, chief operating officer of U.S. Egg. “We are a family restaurant through and through, and we employ many Phoenix families. Our staff consists of cousins, brothers, sisters, husbands, wives, fathers, and mothers. We’re excited to welcome our team and our customers back to our original, refreshed, and rebuilt Tempe restaurant.”
The restaurant will celebrate its return with a ribbon-cutting at noon on February 18, joined by Tempe Mayor Corey Woods, a longtime supporter and frequent guest, and the Tempe firefighters who helped put out the fire.
The Phoenix restaurant chain was founded and operated by the Gebran family, including CEO Gebran Gebran, Chief Business Officer Mike Gebran, and Executive Chef Mario Gebran. The restaurant has expanded from its original Tempe location in 1986 to five other restaurants across the Valley, with locations in Old Town Scottsdale, Moon Valley, Chandler, Bell Road, and North Scottsdale. The company now employs 265 team members across six Valley locations and is recognized on the Phoenix Business Journal’s list of the region’s largest locally owned companies.
As U.S. Egg celebrates its 40th anniversary and the long-awaited return of its Tempe location, guests are invited to enjoy limited‑time specials, including the $22.95 Forty Flight with champagne, cranmosa and sunrise, the $14.49 Anniversary Pancakes with buttermilk pancakes topped with whipped cream in the shape of the number 40 and gold sprinkles, and the $5.95 Celebration Mocha with a chocolate rim, whipped cream and gold sprinkles. The 40th anniversary specials are available through August 31.
