Beginning June 27, Southwest Airlines will offer nonstop service to Honolulu, Oahu twice a day. Also beginning June 27, Southwest will offer daily nonstop service to Kahului, Maui. Then, in September, Southwest will launch two additional routes to Hawaii. Phoenix to Lihue, Kauai will operate three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays while Phoenix to Kona will operate four times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. All routes will be offered year-round.
“People move to Phoenix to enjoy our quality of life. Air service is an important part of that equation – our residents like to know they can travel efficiently to popular destinations, whether it is for business or vacation,” said Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego. “As COVID restrictions ease, and travelers decide to get away, it is exciting to know these new Phoenix to Hawaii flights on Southwest will give them more convenient options.”
These flights add to Phoenix’s Hawaii offerings. Currently, American offers nonstop service to Honolulu, Kahului, Lihue, and Kona. Hawaiian offers nonstop service to both Honolulu and Kahului.
“Southwest Airlines is an important partner for the city and Sky Harbor,” said Phoenix Vice Mayor Carlos Garcia. “I am thrilled that they are committed to Phoenix and have launched new service to Hawaii. These flights will not only provide more choices for travelers, but will help boost our economy.”
Southwest’s flights are the latest in a series of new destinations Southwest has added over the past year, including launching its first international service from Phoenix to Mexico in October 2020. Southwest is one of Sky Harbor’s largest carriers.
