Arizona-founded healthcare technology company Basata is opening a new headquarters at Hayden Ferry Lakeside in Tempe, marking the latest stage of growth for the company following a $21 million Series A funding round earlier this year.
Located at 80 E. Rio Salado Parkway, the new headquarters gives Basata a larger home base as the company expands its artificial intelligence platform for specialty healthcare practices. Basata develops AI-powered tools that automate administrative workflows including referrals, patient intake, scheduling, document processing and follow-up, with the goal of moving patients from referral to care more quickly.
Founded in 2024 by CEO Kaled Alhanafi, President Chetan Patel, PhD, and CTO Vivin Paliath, PhD, Basata has grown alongside increasing healthcare industry demand for technology that can reduce administrative workloads. The company reported in May that its platform had served more than 500,000 patients and was being used by specialty providers across cardiology, urology, gastroenterology, ophthalmology and other fields.
The Tempe expansion follows Basata’s $21 million Series A announced in May, led by Basis Set Ventures with participation from Cowboy Ventures, PHX Ventures, Zenda Capital and Victoria Treyger. The financing brought the company’s total funding to $24.5 million.
Basata already works with Arizona healthcare organizations including Phoenix Heart and Southwest Cardiovascular Associates. At Southwest Cardiovascular Associates, the company says its technology helped eliminate a backlog of more than 500 unprocessed referrals, reduce referral processing time from four to eight weeks to the same day and increase new patient bookings by 18%.
“This headquarters represents both how far Basata has come and the next stage of what we want to build in Arizona to support the growing demand for healthcare across the country,” Alhanafi said. “We’re building Basata to give capacity back so healthcare teams can spend more time on patients, and more patients can get the care they need.”
Basata’s platform integrates with healthcare practices’ existing electronic health record systems and other technology rather than requiring organizations to replace their existing infrastructure. Its AI agents can handle processes that often still rely on faxes and phone calls, including extracting information from incoming referrals, creating patient records and assisting with scheduling.
The company will mark the opening of its new headquarters Wednesday, Sept. 23, with a ribbon-cutting attended by Tempe Mayor Corey Woods, Basata’s founders and members of the Valley’s technology and healthcare communities.
