Tempe-based Dutch Bros expects to open approximately 250 shops in 2027, stepping up its expansion from a target of at least 185 openings in 2026. The drive-thru beverage chain announced the new target with its third-quarter results.
Most of the new shops are expected to open in states where Dutch Bros already operates, giving the chain more locations in markets it already serves. “Our real estate pipeline is now the deepest in company history,” says Joshua Guenser, chief financial officer of Dutch Bros, on the company’s earnings call.
Dutch Bros opened 48 shops in the third quarter, including 42 company-operated locations and six franchises. That brought the chain to 1,273 shops across 27 states as of Sept. 30, up nearly 18% from a year earlier. The company previously set a goal of reaching 2,029 shops in 2029.
In Arizona, Dutch Bros expanded its company-operated footprint in July by buying back the franchise rights and assets of 32 existing East Valley shops for approximately $63.5 million. The deal shifted those locations from franchise to company operation.
Third-quarter revenue rose 29.8% to $549.8 million, while sales at comparable shops increased 4.4% across the chain. Alongside the new openings, Dutch Bros plans to expand its beverage lineup, test new hot food offerings, improve its digital tools and pilot delivery.
