Velvet Taco, the acclaimed national restaurant brand known for its globally inspired tacos, late night hours, irresistible sides, Boozy Libations, and red velvet cake, is coming to Old Town Scottsdale. Opening on November 4th inside the space that once housed Second Story Restaurant & Liquor Bar, this two-story flagship will be Velvet Taco’s first in Arizona.

Located at 4166 N. Scottsdale Rd., the 3,081-square foot restaurant will greet guests with an 88-seat dining room and a 20-seat outdoor patio, perfect for alfresco dining. Combining Velvet Taco’s industrial yet creative design with Scottsdale’s unique spirit, the new location brims with bright pops of color, exterior neon lighting, natural wood textures and irreverent wall murals.

Historically known as a destination for visitors to explore new and exciting dining options and nightlife experiences, Old Town Scottsdale is the ideal neighborhood for Velvet Taco’s first Phoenix opening. Velvet Taco, open as late as 3 a.m. on weekends, will bring a new kind of taco to Scottsdale’s already flourishing taco culture.

“At Velvet Taco, we have set out to reimagine what a taco can be, drawing inspiration from cultures all over the world and delivering them to our guests with the tortilla as the vessel,” says CEO Clay Dover. “The Scottsdale community is rich in art and culture, which makes it a natural fit to launch Velvet Taco in the Phoenix market. We are thrilled to officially open our doors next month, introducing Arizonans our bold brand and globe-trotting flavors.”

Velvet Taco’s menu is anything but ordinary. With over 20 tacos inspired by global cuisines, guests are sure to have an experience worth coming back for. Each item is made from scratch, and it doesn’t stop there. Velvet Taco’s chefs use ingredients that are seasonal and fresh, delivering high-quality, trend-setting dining experiences. Some favorites are the Spicy Tikka Chicken made with crispy chicken tenders and buttered cilantro basmati rice; Beer Battered Cauliflower with queso blanco, corn pico de gallo, and candied pepitas; and the Cuban Pig, spotlighting low and slow cooked pulled pork. Little ones even have a menu just for them, featuring chicken, steak, quesadillas, tacos, tenders, and tots. To satisfy sweet tooths, visitors can indulge in the brand’s coveted Red Velvet Cake – a double-layered, moist cake topped with cream cheese frosting and a signature cajeta sauce as the ideal end to an order.

Menu items pair perfectly with Velvet Taco’s Boozy Libations such as the Kick Ass Margarita, Paloma, and Sangrita Swirl, a red wine blend, frozen kick ass margarita. Part of Velvet Taco’s recipe for success is a constantly evolving menu packed with weekly features, promo nights.
