New data reveals the states that are the most stressed about their finances, with Arizona coming fifth.
Online lender CreditNinja analyzed average monthly search volumes over the past 12 months to discover the states searching the most for terms related to money and financial issues. The study examined over 200 search terms, including ‘money help’, ‘debt relief’, and ‘student loan forgiveness’. Colorado is top of the list, with 3,631.20 average monthly searches per 100,000 people. Coloradan’s top searches include ‘mortgage rates’ at 1,650.33 searches, ‘loans’ at 149.44 searches, and ‘car payment calculator’ at 225.01 searches.
The Centennial State had an increase in monthly searches of over 75% compared to Mississippi, which comes bottom of the full ranking with only 2,069.95 average searches per 100,000 residents.
Utah is in second place, with an average of 3,593.29 monthly searches per 100,000 people. The Beehive State searched for ‘how to make money fast’ the most out of every state, with 70.95 average monthly searches for this term.
Florida is third, with a monthly average of 3,416.97 searches per 100,000 people. ‘Food stamps’ was the second most popular term searched for by Floridians, averaging 397.49 monthly searches.
In fourth is Georgia, with 3,219.63 average monthly searches per 100,000 residents. The Peach State had the second highest number of searches for ‘how to make money online’ compared to any other state, at an average of 106.08 each month.
Arizona comes fifth, with an average of 3,149.67 monthly searches per 100,000 residents. Arizonians searched for ‘freedom debt relief’ the most out of every state, with a monthly average of 38.91.
Nevada is in sixth place, with a monthly average of 3,145.91 searches per 100,000 people. The state’s top three terms were ‘mortgage calculator’ at 1,210.01 searches, ‘mortgage rates’ at 332.90 searches, and ‘student loan forgiveness’ at 314.90 searches.
Washington is a close seventh, with an average of 3,145.06 searches a month per 100,000 residents. The Evergreen State has the third highest average search volume out of every state for the term ‘debt consolidation’ at 33.49.
In eighth place is Tennessee, with 3,131.17 average monthly searches per 100,000 residents. One of the top searches in this state was ‘loans’, with an average volume of 202.06.
Massachusetts is ninth, with an average of 3,121.04 monthly searches per 100,000 people. Massachusettsans searched for ‘credit score’ an average of 71.65 times a month, the second highest out of every state.
In tenth is Virginia, with a monthly average of 3,090.03 searches per 100,000 people. The state searched for ‘debt relief’ more than any other state, with 12.97 average monthly searches.
