RED Development joined Fender Musical Instruments Corp., the world’s leading guitar manufacturer, yesterday for a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the start of construction on its new Arizona co-headquarters in a fully dedicated facility slated to open in 2025 at PV, the more than $2 billion multi-phase, multi-year redevelopment of the former Paradise Valley Mall.

Celebrating the occasion in a red-carpet affair with Fender flair, the groundbreaking was attended by local dignitaries, including Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego, Vice Mayor Debra Stark, Community and Economic Development Deputy Director Nathan Wright, Councilwomen Ann O’Brien and Laura Pastor and other notable city and industry figures. FMIC CEO Andy Mooney, CFO Matthew Janopaul and RED Development Senior Vice President of Development Jeff Moloznik commemorated the milestone with speeches and a ceremonial shovel dig.

“Breaking ground on our office expansion signifies an investment in a community who have contributed much to Fender’s success over the years. Our goal was to create an environment that will continue to foster Fender’s culture of innovation, collaboration and growth and act as a magnet for future generations of talent,” said FMIC CEO Andy Mooney.

The 77,000-square-foot, three-story building, designed by SmithGroup, is anticipated to open in fall 2025. It promises to be a dynamic hub for collaboration and will boast an array of cutting-edge facilities, including a dedicated model shop for its guitar and amplifier designers, a top-of-the-line sound room, a spacious café, meeting rooms and flexible workspaces.

“Fender selected PV for its retail-led, mixed-use design and walkable environment. Seamlessly integrating office spaces with vibrant dining and shopping options is key to attracting and retaining top talent,” said Mike Ebert, managing partner at RED. “Our dynamic atmosphere aligns perfectly with the Fender brand and we’re proud to welcome them to their new home at PV.”

Spanning more than 100 acres and situated in the heart of one of the most prestigious neighborhoods in Phoenix, PV is the reimagining of the iconic former Paradise Valley Mall. One of the Southwest’s most highly anticipated projects, the master plan features an array of dining, entertainment, retail, living and working experiences linked by a centrally located park.

FMIC’s groundbreaking follows the official debut of PV with its first tenant, Flower Child, opening its doors last week. Upcoming phase one openings include Whole Foods Market, Blanco Cocina + Cantina, The Melt, Trevor’s Liquor, Wren House Brewing Co., Frost Gelato, Sephora, Hammer & Nails, SkinSpirit and European Wax Center along with the 400-residence, state-of-the-art, multi-family community AVE Paradise Valley.
