For years, One Camelback has stood at the center of one of Phoenix’s busiest intersections, its glass facade and dramatic silhouette impossible to miss. But while the tower had all the makings of an Uptown landmark, its transformation into apartments stalled before it could become part of daily life in the neighborhood. That is about to change.
One Camelback will soon welcome its first residents on Tuesday, October 2, transforming the long-stalled former office tower into a 163-residence apartment community in the heart of Uptown Phoenix. The response has come early: 20% of the building has already been leased sight unseen, a signal that Phoenix renters are ready for a home with real architectural personality and a front-row seat to one of the city’s most connected neighborhoods.
“This building had been sitting there with so much potential, and we knew it was time to get it across the finish line,” said TK Stratton, developer and principal of Kinella Capital, LLC. “We are not just opening apartments. We are bringing this corner of Phoenix back to life, with people living here, meeting friends, supporting local businesses and becoming part of the neighborhood.”
Kinella Capital acquired the property after its previous development stalled, then took on the work of rethinking and completing the tower for modern residential living. That included updating core building systems, refining the arrival experience and amenities, and preserving the distinctive qualities that made One Camelback impossible to miss in the first place.
Now, the tower is ready to become a home address. One Camelback offers studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom and three-bedroom residences, with layouts ranging from 532 to 1,898 square feet. Floor-to-ceiling windows bring in city lights, mountain views and the movement of Central Avenue below, while select residences offer sweeping views across Uptown, Midtown, Camelback Mountain and the Valley.
The interiors pair the tower’s original urban character, including exposed concrete ceilings, with modern finishes, smart-home features, Samsung appliances, quartz countertops, wood-style flooring and full-size washers and dryers.
One Camelback’s opening also brings new momentum to the street level. The project includes nearly 11,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space, including the previously announced EverSpan Health, which is building an integrated health optimization center within the tower. Additional tenant announcements are expected in the coming months, while select retail opportunities remain available for local businesses that complement the building’s residential and wellness-focused experience.
“For the right local operator, this is a chance to be part of a very visible Phoenix comeback,” Stratton said. “We are looking for businesses that bring something useful, memorable and genuinely additive to the neighborhood. The goal is to create a ground floor that residents use often and the surrounding community wants to visit.”
The property sits at one of the Valley’s most visible intersections, near Uptown Plaza, AJ’s Fine Foods, restaurants, boutiques, fitness studios and the Camelback light rail station. As residents begin to settle in, the tower is poised to create a stronger daily customer base for nearby businesses and new opportunities for future retail tenants.
With first move-ins coming soon, One Camelback has apartments ready for immediate lease-up. The project is no longer a question mark on the skyline. It is becoming a living part of Phoenix again.
