Downtown Glendale is set to welcome a taste of Britain as Cornish Pasty Co., secures its place at the historic Gaslight Building. SVN Desert Commercial Advisors‘ AZO/I Team, represented by Richard Lewis, Justin Horwitz, Aaron Gutierrez, and Sean Alderman, played a crucial role in facilitating the lease deal for the Valley’s eighth Cornish Pasty Co. location.
The Gaslight Building, located at 5747-5751 W. Glendale Ave., is becoming a hub for unique and vibrant establishments. NAI Horizon Managing Director | Retail, Matt Harper, CCIM, represented the landlord in the long-term lease for Cornish Pasty Co.’s 3,510 SF space, joining Simple Machine Brewing in the historic location.
“Cornish Pasty’s arrival in Downtown Glendale is about more than just pasties; it’s a recipe for success that will add a new layer and attract more unique concepts to this growing part of the city,” said Jamie Aldama, Councilmember for Glendale’s Ocotillo District.
Arizona-born Cornish Pasty Co., known for its savory hand pies originating from Cornwall, England, will bring its unique menu and British pub atmosphere to Downtown Glendale. The establishment boasts over 40 different pasty creations, all made from scratch, along with homemade soups, desserts, salads, and unique appetizers. The pub will offer a selection of craft and imported beers.
Dean Thomas, the owner of Cornish Pasty, expressed excitement about becoming part of the Downtown Glendale community. “We are excited to be part of the Downtown Glendale community and look forward to sharing our passion for pasties and a good brew with you all,” he said.
On a growth trajectory across the Valley for 18 years, Cornish Pasty Co. adds another dimension to its expanding presence with the addition of the Glendale location. Scheduled to open its doors in spring 2024, the prime Gaslight Building location adds to Cornish Pasty’s existing Valley locations in Tempe, North Phoenix, Downtown Phoenix, Mesa, and Scottsdale, as well as locations in Jerome, Flagstaff, Boulder City, and Las Vegas, Nevada.
The Gaslight Building, a landmark that opened in 1926 at 5747 W. Glendale Ave., with its rich history as the former Gaslight Inn Bed and Breakfast continues to grow as a vibrant hub. has been transformed with the addition of Cornish Pasty Co. The restaurant will join Simple Machine Brewing Company open in 2023, on the first floor.. The second floor of the building now features eight studio units and three one-bedroom apartments, converting the former Gaslight Inn’s hotel portion into residential space.
Downtown Glendale, with its more than 150 unique and independently owned shops, boutiques, restaurants, and services, attracts over 1.6 million yearly visitors. The Gaslight Building’s central location, adjacent to the $70 million renovation of Glendale City Hall, Murphy Park, and an outdoor concert venue, positions it as a focal point for the community’s growth and revitalization.
