The Phoenix Zoo is marking the season with two family events, pairing an evening of Halloween activities with a Sunday celebration of Mexican tradition, music and remembrance.
Spooky Safari concludes Friday, October 30, with trick-or-treating, face painting, an hourly costume parade, games and entertainment from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Guests can visit candy stations and take part in activities throughout the evening. Admission is $18 per person, with children ages 2 and under admitted free. Food and beverages are available for purchase. Tickets are limited, and toy guns are prohibited.
The festivities continue Sunday, November 1, with Día de los Muertos, presented by Valley Toyota Dealers, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The celebration features vibrant altars, live music, performances, an art sale and family activities inspired by the Mexican tradition of honoring loved ones who have died. Admission to the event is included with general Zoo admission or membership.
At the heart of Día de los Muertos are ofrendas, or altars, which honor loved ones through photographs, flowers, favorite foods and personal mementos. The Zoo’s celebration invites families to explore those traditions through a day of color, music and remembrance.
Both events take place at the Phoenix Zoo. Visit the Spooky Safari event page for tickets and the Día de los Muertos event page for additional information.
