Arizona Culinary Hall of Fame chef Matt Carter and partner Brian Raab of Broken Plate Hospitality announce their newest venture, Dash, opening this fall at the southeast corner of Hayden Road and Mountain View. Marking the group’s first new concept in a decade, Dash blends an all-day culinary destination with a curated retail market.
Built around the philosophy of “Dash in, dash out, morning, noon, and night,” the concept reflects Carter’s 17-year history as a McCormick Ranch resident. In the kitchen, Carter is joined by long-time Fat Ox Pastry Chef Lisa Graf to build an expansive, zero-pretense menu celebrating everyday craveability. Broken Plate Hospitality is the powerhouse behind some of the Valley’s most celebrated culinary institutions, including Zinc Bistro, The Mission, and Fat Ox.
“I’ve been dreaming of this concept for ten years, driving past this exact space several times a week wishing our community had a real neighborhood joint,” says Chef Matt Carter. “Dash is a culmination of my personal culinary passions, and things I’ve wanted to do but haven’t fit at our other restaurants like sandwich-making, Roman pizza, charcoal chicken, soft-serve, pizza pasta, all paired with Lisa’s incredible talent in the pastry kitchen. It’s an effortless neighborhood gathering place built around food people actually crave and want to eat every single day.”
Housed in a neighborhood shopping center with ample parking, Dash transitions seamlessly from an energized morning bake shop to a vibey, candlelit evening hangout. The indoor-outdoor environment pairs a cozy 12-seat interior anchored by a custom vintage-style audiophile speaker system with a sprawling 40-seat west-facing patio built for Arizona sunsets. The experience caters equally to lingering guests and on-the-go neighbors, complete with a dedicated curbside pickup area for seamless digital ordering.
The culinary program debuts with gourmet coffee, freshly baked pastries, and premium sandwiches before expanding into Roman-style pizzas, charcoal chicken, soft-serve ice cream, and daily specials that reflect the mood and moment for Chef Carter. Beyond the dining room, Dash doubles as a neighborhood retail market stocked with signature staples Chef Carter has created at his other concepts, including his famous mac-and-cheese, chips and guacamole, and artisanal hand-shaped pastas. A curated beverage program rounds out the space, transitioning from morning mimosas and craft coffees to rotating wines and shareable batched cocktails at night.
“This is our most approachable concept to date, giving us total freedom to adapt to the mood, moment, and daypart,” says co-founder Brian Raab. “I can do tequila shots with you at The Mission and pour Negronis at Fat Ox, but Dash is the ultimate neighborhood hang to grab a morning coffee, catch up over lunch, or share a bottle of wine at sunset and then take one home with you.”
Dash is slated to open in Scottsdale in Fall 2026.
