The Cheesecake Factory will expand its Greater Phoenix presence with a new restaurant at SimonCRE’s Village at Prasada, off Waddell Road east of Loop 303 in Surprise. Expected to open in late 2027, the restaurant joins other recently announced additions to the city’s retail and dining offerings, including Whole Foods Market and Flower Child.
The location was announced during the Surprise City Council meeting on Tuesday, September 15, following years of recruitment by the City’s Economic Development Department and sustained interest in its annual retail survey. The Cheesecake Factory has ranked as residents’ No. 1 most desired restaurant for six consecutive years.
“The Cheesecake Factory is very pleased to be opening a restaurant at Village at Prasada in Surprise,” said David Overton, Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of The Cheesecake Factory Incorporated. “We have enjoyed being part of the greater Phoenix area since first opening there more than 25 years ago, and we were delighted to learn that the residents of Surprise have been asking to have us open there. We are looking forward to opening next year and being part of the Surprise community.”
The restaurant first appeared among the survey’s Top 10 Most Desired Restaurants in 2017 and has remained on the list every year since. It climbed from No. 7 in 2017 to No. 2 in 2020 before holding the top spot from 2021 through 2026. During that time, the Economic Development Department engaged with the company and its representatives, sharing the survey results and making the case for a location in the city.
Those recruitment efforts also included a series of public campaigns. On National Cheesecake Day in July 2024, the City launched its first “Bring Your Cheesecake to Work Day,” featuring employees posing with cheesecakes across its social media channels. A few months later, more than 500 residents participated in selecting the Official Cheesecake Flavor of the City of Surprise, choosing White Chocolate Raspberry Truffle.
For National Cheesecake Day in 2025, the City released “Mission: Cheesecake,” a cinematic, action-inspired video depicting covert agents on an assignment to bring the restaurant to Surprise. Each campaign reinforced residents’ interest and the City’s ongoing recruitment efforts.
“This is such a sweet win for Surprise! For years, our residents have told us that The Cheesecake Factory is the restaurant they want the most, and the Economic Development team took that mission to heart,” said City of Surprise Economic Development Director Jeanine Jerkovic. “We’ve had a lot of fun along the way, but behind every silly cheesecake video, zany social media post and crazy idea was a serious commitment to our community to advocate for what they want. Mission accomplished, Surprise! I think we’ve all earned a slice of cheesecake!”
Additional details about the location, including construction and opening timelines, will be shared as they become available. Information about the City’s economic development efforts and other businesses coming soon is available through Surprise Economic Development on Facebook.
