Arizona Builders Alliance (ABA) with the help of construction industry workers across the state helped make a difference in the lives of over 3,000 children in need this holiday season through the 15th Annual Community Service Board’s 2024 Toy Drive. Over 150 Arizona construction companies and individuals collected the mountain of toys, gifts, and approximately $45,000 in donations to benefit seven nonprofit organizations serving children across the state.
Volunteers spent hours wrapping and delivering thousands of LEGO sets, bicycles, Barbie dolls, trucks, and other gifts for Christmas events held December 13-18. Group home managers selected their gifts at Sunshine Residential Homes in Glendale before distributing them to parents and foster parents to give to their children. Bags of wrapped gifts were given to children separated from their parents during a festive party at Sunshine Acres Children’s Home in Mesa that included games, a visit with Mr. and Mrs. Claus, holiday music, and Christmas treats.
“It’s inspiring and heartwarming to witness how construction workers and local communities came together to bring joy to countless children across Arizona,” said Kim Davids, Arizona Builders Alliance President. “Annual traditions like this help us create the holiday spirit of togetherness while making a positive impact on the community, and it’s an honor to see how our efforts have only expanded over the past 15 years.”
Rosendin, IMCOR, Kortman and CBIZ also sponsored classes at Sequoia Charter School to provide students with toys as well as host a festive pizza party with activities, crafts and a visit from Mr. and Mrs. Claus.
The ABA used monetary donations to purchase toys from a wholesaler, then sorted and wrapped all the gifts for children at Sunshine Acres Children’s Home, Arizona Sunshine Angels,  Santo Niño Catholic Community, The Foster Alliance, Sequoia Charter School, and Agape Adoption Agency of Arizona, as well as Tucson based Arizona Baptist Children’s Services and TMM Family Services. These organizations provide support services such as basic needs assistance, recreation enrichment, permanency support, advocacy and awareness, and legal advocacy to children who have been separated from their parents or have endured abuse and neglect.
“Nothing is more exciting during the holidays than opportunities like this to give back to our community,” said Sydney Coleman, Business Development Specialist at Rosendin and ABA’s Vice Chair of the Community Service Committee. “For Rosendin, sponsoring classroom parties and donating gifts allows us to directly impact the lives of children where our employees live and work. The way construction companies have come together this holiday season is incredible.”
Major contributors to this year’s toy drive include Rosendin, Hensel Phelps, IMCOR, SteelFab, Kortman, TDIndustries, CBIZ, McCarthy, Big-D, Sundt Construction, and Kitchell.
