After delighting guests with its unique Italian fare for nearly a year, The Rosticceria officially closed its doors over the weekend. But when one door closes, another door opens. Chef Joey’s The Mexicano is taking over the restaurant space while the team puts the finishing touches on the original location, at 4801 E Cactus Road, which remains closed since a kitchen fire in August 2024. The Mexicano pop-up will begin offering lunch and dinner service on Tuesday, October 15th.
The Mexicano pop-up will offer the same vibrant décor and interactive dining that has made the restaurant a Valley favorite since its 2021 debut. Guests can enjoy a chef-driven menu of authentic Mexican cuisine infused with modern twists— such as the birria bao buns and the Instagram-famous guacamole and salsa Ferris wheel. Plus, The Mexicano’s popular daily happy hour will return, featuring specials on classic margaritas, Mexican draft beers, sangria, and cocktails, alongside $3 tacos like al pastor, chicken tinga, and the crowd-favorite “Best F-ing Queso Birria.”
The pop-up restaurant will be open through the end of the year, until the original Mexicano location is ready for its highly anticipated grand re-opening. Chef Joey and his team are bringing exciting new elements, enhanced dining experiences and a fresh twist to the concept. He is calling it Mexicano 2.0.
Once the pop-up concludes, the restaurant space will then be transformed into an exciting new concept by Chef Joey, with details to be announced later. Additionally, The Mexicano is preparing to open its second location in Chandler in early 2025, bringing its famous build-your-own margarita bar and signature dishes to the East Valley at 3095 W. Chandler Blvd. in the Chandler Fashion Center.
