Agate Construction, a leading construction company specializing in innovative projects across various commercial and industrial industries, announced it will construct four new aircraft hangar buildings on 4.13 acres of Falcon Field Airport property. Representing Agate Construction’s eighth construction project in partnership with DKS Properties LLC’s ownership, the buildings will total 68,500 square feet, with construction slated to begin in the first quarter of 2025. Agate is currently performing preconstruction services on the project for DKS.

The buildings will contain twelve aircraft hangars available for lease. One building will also include 7,400 square feet of corporate office space, to either be leased separately or as part of an adjacent hangar lease. Agate expects to construct the project in 10 months.

The development site sits in the airport’s historic district at Falcon 12 Aviation Center Lots 3 and 4 on Falcon Drive, at the Falcon Field Airport entrance.

“Agate recognizes DKS Properties President Jay Donkersloot as a visionary business leader, and his choice to collaborate with Agate Construction again after entrusting our hard-working team with seven past, highly successful projects serves as a testament to our steadfast delivery of top-quality construction work,” said Lou Primak, principal, and COO at Agate Construction. “The Agate team promises to uphold our commitment to Jay with this highly visible project at the airport’s primary gateway, and we will fully dedicate all of our efforts to ensuring the project’s design respects and honors the airport’s historic legacy.”

Agate Construction will provide a full array of preconstruction services for the project, including budgeting, long lead item procurement, scheduling, and constructability reviews. “DKS Properties fosters long-standing business relationships based on trust, and Agate Construction has proven repeatedly to execute our construction projects on time and on budget,” Donkersloot said. “Our company looks forward to working alongside Agate in shaping the airport campus with buildings that offer a pleasing aesthetic to enhance the visitors’ experience.”

The developed land will remain part of the overall airport property, under DKS Properties’ long-term land lease in a development agreement with the Airport Authority and City of Mesa.
