Cox is announcing free access to 800K+ Cox-powered WiFi hotspots across Metro Phoenix through April 13. See link for map. Since the free hotspots opened up to the public on March 25th, Cox has seen more than 20K user sessions.

At a time when the Valley will host more than 300K visitors for college basketball’s most important match ups, Cox is committed to keeping fans connected by opening up their vast network of WiFi hotspots across the Valley.

“We have continued to invest in expanding our network in Arizona and have added even more connectivity options like Cox Mobile, our full service, 5G mobile device product.  Our extensive WiFi network operates seamlessly throughout Metro Phoenix and we are happy to open it up for everyone around the biggest games in college hoops!” said Susan Anable, Phoenix market vice president, Cox Communications.

Users can access Cox powered free WiFi hotspots by selecting the “CoxWiFiFree” wireless network (SSID) on their WiFi-enabled device when it detects a Cox WiFi Hotspot.

Cox internet customers already have access to all Cox WiFi hotspots as part of their internet service. Additionally, they have access to the nation’s largest WiFi network, CableWiFi, which includes more than four million hotspots throughout the country.

Cox fiber also powers State Farm Stadium, with 40 Gigs of bandwidth that can support tens of thousands of simultaneous connections, serving the 110k attendees at each of the final basketball games. The Cox Business network will keep fans connected during the games though 2200+ APs throughout State Farm Stadium.
