The Phoenician, Arizona’s premier AAA Five Diamond conference destination, has announced the Phase One completion of its meeting and event space renovation.
Under the direction of Boston-based Parker-Torres Design, the extensive re-fresh brings a blend of contemporary and indigenous aesthetics to the Camelback Ballroom and foyer, The Phoenician Grand Ballroom south and east foyers, along with first-floor breakout rooms and hallways. Through the use of authentic color palettes, original materials, patterns, and textures inspired by the native peoples of the Southwest, as well as the region’s floral, fauna, wildlife, and topography, the new interior pays tribute to Sonoran culture and history.
Phase One efforts included signature carpeting, tiling, wall treatments, draperies, LED lighting, furnishings, and electrical upgrades throughout the space. In addition, updated air walls were installed in The Phoenician Grand Ballroom, and its atrium was re-purposed to create a communal work lounge for guests.
A Dante network system with audio-visual streaming capabilities across all meeting spaces was introduced, while a DMX enhancement in the Camelback Ballroom was made to allow for greater lighting controls and flexibility. Digital meeting room reader boards with custom branding opportunities were also incorporated.
Adorning both ballroom areas are Preciosa chandeliers designed by Parker-Torres. Capturing the winged rhythms of the desert’s diverse bird population, The Camelback Ballroom pre-function lighting is made from 194 hanging glass pieces, each with two to three suspension points. The Phoenician Grand Ballroom pre-function chandeliers feature 128 glass branches, each with three suspension points.
“Bringing more functionality to the client experience, The Phoenician meeting and event space renovation is also designed to inspire with its luxurious desert sophistication,” said Mark Vinciguerra, General Manager of The Phoenician and The Canyon Suites at The Phoenician. “Complementing the transformative nature of our iconic resort, this re-imagined collection of distinctive group offerings provides our partners with a new stage for success.”
Phase Two of the project is scheduled for summer 2024. The scope of work will mirror Phase One efforts, focusing on The Phoenician Grand Ballroom interior and the Estrella Ballroom, as well as upper-level breakout rooms and hallways.
