Architectural trailblazer Lev Libeskind, son of world-renowned architect Daniel Libeskind, is bringing his one-of-a-kind architectural style to Phoenix with his first West Coast office. Alongside real estate powerhouse Zac Cohen and an ensemble of high-profile strategic partners, Libeskind Studio Design crafts unique and meaningful buildings tailored to contribute to the urban matrix while reimagining what’s possible in architecture.
Libeskind was born into the architecture industry as he recalls his earliest memories of watching his father draw in the early 1980s. He spent his childhood and young adulthood traveling around the world, soaking up everything architectural. Libeskind received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Los Angeles, followed by a master’s degree in architecture from the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom and an MBA from the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland. He worked alongside his father in New York City during the early 2000s and in Milan, Italy, from 2011-2018, where he developed his own architectural style.
A world-class commercial developer, Cohen brings over 25 years of experience in real estate and development. His expertise spans globally from the United States to Asia and Europe, specializing in groundbreaking developments, including residential, hospitality, office, and mixed-use spaces. After meeting through a mutual friend in an isolated yurt overlooking the Matterhorn, Cohen and Libeskind decided to team up immediately after realizing the potential architectural artistry they could introduce to the world. Together, they have recruited talented architects in Rome, Milan, and the United States to create Libeskind Studio Design.
“We’ve chosen to make Phoenix our first West Coast home because of the potential we see in this growing market,” says Libeskind. “Arizona is full of such natural beauty; we want to create breath-taking spaces that not only complement their surroundings but move and inspire.”
Located in Downtown Phoenix, Libeskind Studio Design takes a unique approach by immersing itself in the local community and integrating cues from local history, tradition, and culture to build thoughtful architecture that weaves into the fabric of the existing cityscape. LSD is already making its mark in the Phoenix market with its first project, Rainbow Road, a 36-unit apartment building eclectically built to merge thoughtful design with local art and enhanced lifestyle amenities.
Libeskind Studio Design’s US studio is also currently working on multiple large-scale hospitality, residential, and mixed-use projects in Scottsdale, Dallas, Los Angeles, Denver, and Mexico City. To meet their growing demand, the team is looking to hire additional architects to assist in their ever-expanding portfolio of projects.
“Beautiful architecture brings together communities. It’s more than just drawings and buildings; it evokes emotions in people and aims to connect them and create a sense of place.” says Libeskind.
