HL Concepts and ALINE Architecture Concepts are pleased to announce the grand opening of Jin Jia on September 6. When the modern Chinese Korean restaurant opens at Desert Ridge (in the former California Pizza Kitchen location across from Barnes & Noble), guests will enjoy traditional Chinese fare with a Korean twist in a setting that evokes the colors and sights of a traditional lantern festival. This is the second restaurant ALINE has designed working with HL Concepts. The first was NORI Sushi at High Street in Phoenix. “The goal was to create a highly crafted design with Chinese cultural influence,” explains ALINE Principal, Brian Laubenthal. “Taking our cues from a Chinese lantern festival, the entry showcases red Chinese lanterns in wood framed boxes on the walls, with dozens more hanging at different heights from the 12-foot ceiling of the main dining area. An enormous gold fortune cookie sculpture makes a bold design statement. And those who love bathroom selfies won’t want to miss the mirror reflecting the red lacquer wall and a dazzling reflection of the lantern display!”
The menu will feature Korean-Chinese cuisine, including bao buns, noodle dishes, and a variety of rich and complex dishes that bring the best of traditional Korean and Chinese food together with a modern twist.
ALINE developed the overall design concept, then brought in Social Design Studio for interior design collaboration, AZ Direct Buy for the millwork, and Ardebili Engineering and AVSchwan Structural. They also recommended MCI Builders to collaborate with early in the process to dial in cost and schedule.
