Adolfson & Peterson Construction, a top national construction management firm and general contractor, has launched a Southwest special projects division to focus on construction projects of less than $5 million with tight deadlines in occupied spaces or facilities.
Special Projects Manager Mehul Mistry joined AP Southwest to lead the new division, which won its inaugural project bid from the Kyrene School District for weatherization improvements to Mariposa, Manitas, Esperanza and Lagos Elementary Schools. AP reached substantial completion on the approximately $923,855 project at the end of August, removing existing joint sealants, prepping existing building and site walls for new sealants, installing sealants, providing new metal roof caps and repairing existing site fencing.
“AP has done smaller jobs for owners, users and districts in the region for decades. By launching this new division, we’ll have a team committed to these unique projects while still having the capacity to bid on and manage larger builds,” said Scott Salyer, Vice President of Operations for AP Southwest. “Mehul has deep experience estimating and managing projects of this size, and we’re confident he’ll do a great job of building out this part of our job mix.”
With more than a decade of construction experience, Mistry has worked on a wide range of projects including expansion and renovation work in the K-12, retail, entertainment and health-care sectors, as well as commercial tenant improvement and residential remodeling projects. Most recently, Mistry served as a project manager with Katerra and as an assistant project manager with A.R. Mays Construction. He holds a bachelor’s degree in construction management with a specialty in architectural design from California State University – Fresno.
“AP has a solid reputation for building long-term relationships with clients, and we’re always looking for new ways to serve them,” said Mistry. “By focusing on smaller projects with both current and prospective clients, we’ll be able to provide quality tenant improvement, renovation, expansion and repair services on a job-order-contract basis and expand our presence in the region.”
AP has maintained an office in Phoenix for 30 years, providing construction management services on five micro-hospitals for United Surgical Partners Inc., Reunion Rehabilitation Hospital Phoenix, the Clubs on Grand Recreation Center in Sun City, Cirrus Logic and Acronis office improvements, and 11 construction projects for Honeywell.
AP has also performed repeat work for educational institutions throughout Arizona including campuses for the Academies of Math and Science and BASIS Charter Schools throughout the Valley, as well as expansion and renovation projects for Candeo Schools’ North Scottsdale, the Maricopa Institute of Technology, Higley Unified School District’s Williams Field High School, and Douglas Unified School District’s Douglas High School.
