On Thursday, October 1, Knife & Fork Media Group, celebrates a decade of dedication to providing local and national independently owned businesses with top-tier public relations and marketing services designed to help their companies thrive.
“When I started my career in corporate America 20 years ago, I could not have imagined owning a small business,” says President Susie Timm, who founded Knife & Fork Media Group 10 years ago after a highly successful career in the corporate world. “Now, looking back at 10 years of self-employment, I can’t imagine doing anything else. It’s the perfect fit for me.”
Timm’s passion for helping small businesses succeed began in the corporate world and naturally segued into the decision to start her own. In 2009, as the banking industry hit a decline, she started a small side business that celebrated Phoenix’s food and beverage industry through events crafted to expose local food afficionados to the area’s amazing culinary talent. In just a year and a half, that business had grown enough to warrant its expansion into a full service PR and marketing company.
Focusing initially on new restaurants and small food producers that were just starting out, Timm attended trade shows to learn about the business side of those industries. By doing so and by taking the time to learn and understand these business owners’ needs and challenges, she quickly established herself as an industry expert, and Knife & Fork Media Group began to grow. Through a healthy dose of word-of-mouth referrals, businesses from other industries such as art and technology came calling.
In a relatively short time, Timm formed important working relationships with local and national TV, radio, and print media organizations to help maximize her clients’ exposure. Notable outlets include Good Morning America, CNN, USA Today, Fox News, The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, and more. In addition to her unyielding drive and ability to endlessly hustle in all aspects of her business, Timm credits her success to working “very, very hard,” taking and accepting risks, living with “a tiny bit of fear of the unknown,” and finding exceptional employees and treating them well.
Timm intends to continue her pattern of hard work, risk-taking and hustle as she sets her sights on yet another goal — living in Hawaii 10 years down the line and making coffee for people “for fun.” Meanwhile, she can be found fiercely patronizing some of the valley’s best food and beverage spots, on the tennis court, at the MAC makeup counter, or getting a new tattoo.
Founded by Susie Timm in 2010, Knife & Fork Media Group offers its clients a complete range of PR and marketing services to help them achieve success in any given industry. With the tirelessly self-motivated and deeply caring Timm at its helm, Knife & Fork Media Group is committed to the success of its clients through well-executed and proven strategies designed to tell their stories, craft them into experts of their fields, and, ultimately drive traffic through their doors. Timm is an ASU graduate and, at a young age, has amassed a number of impressive accolades including being honored as a member of thePhoenix Business Journal’s “40 Under 40” and “Women Leaders in Business” and named among the Phoenix New Times’ “100 Tastemakers in Phoenix” and So Scottsdale’s “24 Powerful Leaders Under 40.’” She also served as a national trendspotter for the Specialty Food Association’s Fancy Food Shows.
