A new Chase branch will open on September 1 in the CityScape area, the popular downtown hub in Phoenix. Chase recently opened a new branch in Scottsdale and continues to build new branches throughout Arizona, while this is the first new branch added to the downtown network in years.
Branches are the heart of the company because they allow a connection with customers at life’s most important moments. Branch manager Mallorie Cutrer, whose staff has been preparing for the launch, said the opening offers a “beacon of hope.”
“Under COVID, it seems like downtown has been quiet. As we reach out to clients to update them on the new branch, they’re getting excited. It’s giving hope,” Cutrer said.
The state-of-the-art CityScape branch at 101 E. Washington Street, Suite 120, is near the new Fry’s grocery store in the heart of the trendy development with numerous shops and restaurants. The full-service branch will feature modern, bright designs with comfortable meeting areas, the latest digital technology, including deposit-friendly ATMs that dispense cash in multiple denominations. The branch will be open 8:30-5 Monday to Friday and two ATMs will be accessible 24-hours-a-day. The branch phone number is 602-282-8220.
The branch will be staffed with a high caliber team of 10 with more than 100 years of combined experience in helping clients with their financial needs. They are able to deliver advice to our clients with everyday banking and complex financial needs. The staff will include the Branch Manager, Private Client Advisors, Personal Banker, Home Lending Advisor, Business Relationship Manager and others. The Chase Private Client team provides premium banking services, personalized attention and access to the expertise and investment capabilities of J.P. Morgan to help families reach their most important goals.
This is the first Chase branch launched in downtown since 1973, when Chase’s predecessor, Valley National Bank, opened a branch in the Valley Bank Center that later became Chase Tower. The area was the heart of downtown at the time. The tower branch is currently closed due to Chase’s COVID-19 safety initiative. Other nearby branches include McDowell Road and 7th Street, 1820 W. Van Buren Street; and Buckeye Road and 16th Street.
“Opening a new branch in downtown – it hasn’t happened in forever – and we just want to start with our best foot forward and do everything we can to make the launch as successful as possible. We want everyone to be safe and we’re doing everything we can to follow safety guidelines,” Cutrer said.
The branch is fitted with teller partition glass to safeguard employees and customers and alcohol-based hand sanitizer at main entrances. Transaction lines and reception areas will undergo a regular cleaning protocol to help reduce the spread of germs and viruses.
As the retail arm of JPMorgan Chase & Co., a global financial services firm, Chase has almost 150 branches in Maricopa County and more than 200 branches in Arizona. It’s the largest bank by deposits in Arizona. Chase in Arizona is a direct descendant of one of the state’s pioneer banks, the Gila Valley Bank, which was organized more than 120 years ago on November 4, 1899. The company currently serves about 1.8 million local customers and businesses, large and small, across metro Phoenix.
JPMorgan Chase employs about 9,500 people in Arizona and has a deep commitment to the community. The firm donated more than $3.6 million to Arizona nonprofit organizations in 2019.
While more customers are enjoying banking online or on the Chase Mobile App, many are anxious to see the new CityScape branch open, Cutrer said.
“I see this as kind of a beacon of hope. That’s what’s driving my employees. They’re everywhere helping out with whatever is needed and they’re just doing an awesome job,” Cutrer said.
