Southwest Behavioral & Health Services (SB&H), an innovative leader in behavioral health, today announced that it has been recognized by the Healthy Arizona Worksites Program (HAWP) for making efforts to positively affect the health and well-being of employees, their families, and the community.
To be considered for HAWP recognition, SB&H attended the Healthy Arizona Worksite Program training, developed a plan to improve employee health and safety, and submitted information about the organization’s Community Resilience program that offers an array of programs to support the community. SB&H achieved Platinum level of excellence which recognizes businesses making an impact both within and beyond their walls addressing one or more of the many health challenges impacting communities across the state.
“The Community Resilience program staff work tirelessly to fulfill our mission to inspire people to feel better and reach their potential,” said Southwest Behavioral & Health Services marketing director Lynda Riford. “Through helping individuals discover their strengths, we improve our communities.”
The Community Resilience program hosted Pay It Forward events once a quarter. Participants chose from a list of options including Adopt-a-Street trash pickup, gardening at St. Vincent de Paul’s Urban Farm, packing food boxes at St. Mary’s Food Bank, cleaning and sanitization of a playground, or volunteering at an animal shelter.
The Healthy Arizona Worksites Program is a public health initiative offered by the Arizona Department of Health Services and the Maricopa County Department of Public Health (MCDPH). Its mission is to help employers learn how to successfully implement worksite wellness initiatives to improve the health of their employees and businesses.
