Recognition can inspire others to set and attain higher goals, take initiative and stay committed even when challenges arise.
For our business community, honoring achievement builds a culture of motivation, pride and shared success. By celebrating the people and ideas that drive progress, we strengthen connections among colleagues, customers, partners and leaders. Recognition creates positive momentum, encourages innovation and reminds us that success is built through collaboration and dedication. Ultimately, recognition helps build a stronger, more engaged business community where people feel valued and inspired to contribute.
What is the single most important thing you have learned throughout your career that would inspire others/other women?
Honoring achievement reinforces the value of hard work, persistence and meaningful contribution. When people are recognized for their efforts, it sends a clear message that The single most important thing I have learned throughout my career is to always be willing to try something new. Growth often begins when we step outside what feels familiar and say yes to opportunities that challenge us. Not every path is predictable, and not every new experience feels comfortable at first, but each one can teach us something valuable.
For women in particular, we should not wait until we feel completely ready before taking the next step. Confidence is often built through action. Trying something new can open doors to relationships, skills, roles and possibilities we may never have imagined. My career has shown me that being open, curious and willing to take a chance can create a world of opportunity — not only for ourselves but also for those who are watching and inspired by our example.
What do you think we can do – now – to make a difference for young people/women in Arizona?
We can make a difference for young people and women in Arizona by giving them access to mentors, meaningful opportunities and clear pathways to leadership. Mentorship helps people see what is possible, build confidence and learn from those who have already navigated similar experiences. We also need to create real opportunities for young people and women to contribute, lead projects, take risks and gain experience that prepares them for the next level.
Just as importantly, we need to include their voices in the conversations and decisions that shape their future. When young people and women are heard, supported and invited to lead, they become more engaged and empowered. The difference we can make now is to open doors, remove barriers and create a supportive environment where talent is recognized, developed and encouraged to thrive.

As President of Avnet’s Americas Electronic Components business, Dayna Badhorn leads regional sales, operations, and strategy, with a focus on delivering differentiated value to customers and supplier partners. Since joining Avnet in 1998, she has held leadership roles across sales, strategy, technical support, supplier management, business development, digital transformation, and global growth initiatives.
Throughout her career, Bradhorn has helped advance Avnet’s business by driving strategic growth programs across its global electronic components organization.
Bradhorn serves as a board member for CoValence Laboratories in Chandler, Ariz. She holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and an MBA from the University of Phoenix.
