The Valley Metro Regional Public Transportation Authority (RPTA) has elected officers for the Fiscal Year (FY) 2027 term of July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2027. The Board sets policy direction for the Valley Metro transit system, which serves more than 130,000 daily riders across the region.
City of Avondale Councilmember Max White has been elected RPTA Board Chair. City of Chandler Councilmember OD Harris was elected as RPTA Board Vice Chair. Maricopa County Supervisor Steve Gallardo will serve as RPTA Board Treasurer.
“Access to Maricopa County relies on strong transit & rail infrastructure that Valley Metro delivers to residents every day. I am grateful to the RPTA Board for electing me as Chair,” said Avondale Councilmember Max White. “I look forward to working with our Board and Valley Metro staff to increase ridership by modernizing communication, enhancing Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) principles across the system and working to reduce collisions. Our Bus Network Redesign will also guide us into the future and increase access to healthcare, school, work, recreation, entertainment and home with best-in-class transit service.”
Subcommittee representatives were also elected. Avondale Councilmember Max White and Glendale Councilmember Lauren Tolmachoff will serve on the Valley Metro RPTA and Valley Metro Rail Joint Board Subcommittee through June 30, 2027. Fountain Hills Councilmember Peggy McMahon and Tolleson Vice Mayor Jimmy Davis will serve a two-year term on the Audit and Finance Subcommittee through June 30, 2028.
