OneAZ Credit Union and the OneAZ Community Foundation are proud to award a $30,000 Legacy Grant to Homeward Bound. This funding will support 160 families in the Phoenix area through Homeward Bound’s Shelter and Community Program. This program provides families experiencing homelessness with access to an array of services from financial education to youth programs.
“Our mission at OneAZ Credit Union is to improve lives in the communities we serve,” said Sam Wheeler, Chairman of OneAZ Community Foundation. “This Legacy Grant will allow Homeward Bound to enhance its services to families in the Phoenix area, allowing them to find a way home after homelessness.”
“We are so grateful to the OneAZ Community Foundation for providing Homeward Bound with the Legacy Grant award that will allow Homeward Bound to impact the lives of more than 160 families experiencing homelessness through our Shelter and Community Services Program, which includes youth programs, access to food pantries, and financial literacy programming,” said Homeward Bound Chief Executive Officer Whitney Silence.
The OneAZ Legacy Grant program launched in 2022 to provide a greater financial commitment to Arizona-based nonprofit organizations that promote the well-being of the communities we serve. The OneAZ Community Foundation is guided by Five Pillars of Support. Nonprofit organizations that receive grants must have a project or initiative that supports the following:
- Children’s Health
- Food Banks
- Financial Education
- Veterans’ Interests
- Local Youth Programs.
Funding for the OneAZ Community Foundation’s grant programs is made possible in large part due to OneAZ members’ debit card use. Each time a member swipes their OneAZ debit card, one cent is donated to the OneAZ Community Foundation. Since 2016, the OneAZ Community Foundation has provided over $1,000,000 in grants and funding to Arizona nonprofit organizations.
