The Phoenix Symphony is announcing Megan Hilty, a Broadway powerhouse, will sing at the New Year’s Eve Concert with guest conductor Stuart Chafetz also performing. The audience will ring in the New Year with a champagne toast.
The New Year’s Eve Concert is 7:30 p.m. December 31 at Symphony Hall. Tickets are available for purchase on The Phoenix Symphony’s website.
Best known as Ivy Lynn, in the NBC hit Smash, Megan Hilty wowed audiences with her portrayal of Glinda in Wicked, and originated the role of Doralee Rhodes in Broadway’s 9 to 5: The Musical. Megan received a Tony Award nomination for her performance as Brooke Ashton in the hit comedy, Noises Off. Most recently, she starred as Patsy Cline in Lifetime’s original movie Patsy & Loretta, earning a Critics Choice Award nomination for her performance.
“The Phoenix Symphony’s New Year’s Eve Concert is a special way to kickoff 2023 with magic in the air,” Hilty said. “I always look forward to performing at The Phoenix Symphony and I expect to sing some well-known songs such as ‘Popular’ and ‘Diamonds Are a Girls’ Best Friend.’”
Stuart Chafetz is the Principal Pops Conductor of the Columbus Symphony and Principal Pops Conductor of the Chautauqua and Marin Symphonies. Chafetz, a conductor celebrated for his dynamic and engaging podium presence, is increasingly in demand with orchestras across the continent.
