The BMW iX has developed into one of the more versatile entries in the luxury electric SUV segment, combining substantial range, strong performance and a cabin that departs noticeably from BMW’s traditional formula. For 2026, the lineup begins with the iX xDrive45, producing 402 horsepower and serving as the entry point to the range. The xDrive60 raises output to 536 horsepower while offering up to 364 miles of estimated range, and the M70 sits at the top with 650 horsepower and a 3.6-second sprint to 60 mph. The distinctions between them are meaningful, but all three share the same emphasis on space, technology and long-distance usability.
The cabin is where the iX makes its strongest departure from a conventional BMW SUV. A flat floor and generous rear seating create a more open interior, while the available Panoramic Eclipsing Roof can switch from transparent to shaded at the touch of a button, using liquid-crystal technology. BMW also integrates much of the vehicle’s hardware into the design rather than leaving it exposed. Cameras, radar and sensors are incorporated into the kidney grille, speakers sit behind acoustic fabric, and even the windshield washer-fluid filler is concealed beneath the front BMW roundel. The result is an interior and exterior that feel engineered around simplicity without giving up the utility expected from a five-passenger SUV, including up to 77.9 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats folded.
