Westgate Entertainment District Lands Four New Tenant Deals

Westgate Entertainment District Jan. 22, 2014

Four new businesses will call Westgate Entertainment District home when they open at the burgeoning Glendale center over the next several of weeks including Harvard Drug Group,  Lockheed Martin, Mattamy Homes and a local nail salon.

“2013 was Westgate’s most successful year for office leasing, with more than 43,000 square feet of net new occupancy, coupled with another 25,000 square feet of new retail leasing filling ten formerly vacant storefronts,” said Jeff Teetsel, development manager of Westgate Entertainment District.  “We are pleased not just with the leasing activity itself, but the quality of tenants we have attracted to Westgate.”

Harvard Drug Group, a pharmaceutical sales, manufacturing and distribution company, will open a 4,937-square-foot office space at Westgate later this month and is currently hiring for sales positions. The Glendale office will create about 25 new jobs, with expected growth in the next year. Headquartered in Livonia, Michigan, Harvard Drug Group also has facilities in Decatur, Alabama; Oxford, Mississippi; Daytona Beach, Florida and Indianapolis. With approximately 500 employees, it is the eighth largest distributor of generic drugs in the United States and distributes more than 18,000 products.

Lockheed Martin, a Fortune 100 company in the global security and aerospace industries, will open a 2,034-square-foot office at Westgate in March. Headquartered in Bethesda, Md., Lockheed Martin employs about 116,000 people worldwide and is principally engaged in the research, design, development, manufacture, integration and sustainment of advanced technology systems, products and services.

Mattamy Homes, Canada’s largest new home builder with operations across Canada and the United States, will open a 1,463-square-foot new home marketing center to service their half-dozen West Valley subdivisions. The home builder’s Arizona communities are located in Glendale, Peoria, Surprise and Mesa’s Eastmark development.

Additionally, Westgate Nails & Spa, a local nail salon operator, will open a 1,229-square-foot retail location in February next to Men’s Ultimate Grooming and near the AMC Theatres.

“We are thrilled to be in Glendale and excited to open our Arizona office at Westgate,” said Bill Edinger of Harvard Drug who will be heading up sales. “Glendale and the surrounding communities have an untapped talent pool for our future employees. A big draw for us was Westgate’s easy freeway access and all the restaurants, shops and entertainment venues that will really benefit our employees.”

“Mattamy Homes has a long history of innovation in the homebuilding industry, and we saw the opportunity to have a presence at the Westgate Entertainment District as an innovative and unique way to reach potential customers,” says Steve Sasso, President of Mattamy’s Arizona Division. “Westgate is a premier destination for shopping and entertainment, and the high visibility and traffic made it a very attractive spot to locate Mattamy’s integrated marketing center, where we can showcase all of our properties in the West Valley. We’re looking forward to meeting many future Mattamy homeowners at our Westgate center and sharing our plans for architecturally designed homes and wonderful neighborhoods.”

The announcement comes on the heels of strong leasing activity at Westgate Entertainment District in 2013 with the opening of Buffalo Wild Wings, Whiskey Rose Bar & Grill, Chipotle, It’Sugar, Razzleberriez Frozen Yogurt, Terminix, The Arizona Republic and the expansion of Just Sports.
