Social Venture Partners Arizona Dec. 1, 2015

Social Venture Partners Arizona (SVPAZ) is pleased to announce the 20 local nonprofits selected as semifinalists for the 2016 Fast Pitch Competition, affectionately known in the business and philanthropic worlds as “American Idol with soul.”

Nonprofits that advance to the final phase of the competition will use the training to compete for $50,000 in funding from SVPAZ, in addition to thousands more raised during the event by community leaders, business executives and philanthropists interested in investing in the nonprofits. At the final competition on Tuesday, March 1, at the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts, eight finalists will take the stage to answer a critical, complex and highly entertaining question: How can you change the world in three minutes?

“We typically receive a number of truly innovative and impactful organizations that apply for a spot in our program, and this year was no different,” said SVPAZ Executive Director Terri Wogan Calderón. “For 2016, we have selected a diverse cohort of organizations doing great work in health and human services, education, technology, the environment and the arts. Our goal with Fast Pitch is to, ultimately, strengthen all of these organizations and position them to increase visibility and gain more community support.”
