Brad Jannenga — co-founder and CTO of WebPT, a cloud-based electronic medical record (EMR) for rehab therapists — earned a 2013 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award in the “Emerging” category for the Mountain Desert region, Ernst & Young announced recently.
The award recognizes outstanding high-growth entrepreneurs who demonstrate excellence and extraordinary success in areas such as innovation, financial performance and personal commitment to their businesses and communities. Selected by an independent panel of judges, this year’s winners received recognition at a June 20 gala event held at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts.
“I’m truly honored to accept this award, but I also have to credit to the whole team at WebPT for their tireless commitment to propelling the company — and the entire rehab therapy industry — forward,” Jannenga said. “It’s amazing to look back on the history of WebPT and see just how far we have come in such a short time.”
Through WebPT, Jannenga innovated the practice of rehab therapy by offering a simple EMR solution that allows therapists to focus on providing exceptional patient care. Since the company’s inception in 2008, Jannenga and his team have helped more than 22,000 rehab therapy professionals adopt EMR. These therapists have created more than 22 million records, providing roughly 1.5 million patients with a more complete medical record and ensuring compliance, safety and health care transparency as well as improved communication and care between medical providers.
Jannenga will go on to vie for national honors in several award categories, including the National Entrepreneur of the Year Overall Award. Winners will be announced Nov. 16 at the annual awards gala in Palm Springs, Calif.
