On Wednesday, March 4, two Amazon managers from Phoenix-area fulfillment centers will be honored with the Patriot Award, a distinction given by Employment Support for the Guard and Reserve (ESGR). Employees who are active-duty in the National Guard or Reserve can nominate individual managers to be recognized for their commitment to supporting the needs of American service members and their families.
ESGR’s Patrick McDermott will make a special presentation of the award to Peter Kim and Eric Powell in acknowledgment of their ongoing support of the more than 100 active-duty service members and veterans who work at Amazon’s Phoenix-area fulfillment centers.
Amazon is committed to supporting veterans as they transition from military life to civilian life. In 2014, Amazon hired more than 2,600 veterans and has a team made up of veterans devoted to military recruitment, mentoring, and career support to help those with military backgrounds develop their skills into long-term careers at Amazon. Amazon has been recognized by G.I. Jobs, Military Spouse Magazine, and U.S. Veterans Magazine for its ongoing commitment to hiring veterans and military spouses.
The awards will be presented at the Amazon fulfillment center in Phoenix on Buckeye Rd and 51st Ave.
