Tempe Leadership, the nonprofit leadership program through the Tempe Chamber of Commerce, is honoring Mike Jennings, local Tempe business leader and Tempe Leadership alumnus, as the 2015 Outstanding Community Leader at the annual Tempe Chamber Beacon Awards today.

Jennings, who owns and operates two Campus Corner retail stores in Tempe, has provided support and leadership to various organizations, equal to hundreds of volunteer hours in support of Tempe.  He was a part of Tempe Leadership Class 23, helping to achieve the Change for Change project that installed nonprofit collection meters on Mill Avenue for donations to support homeless service agencies. Jennings also served for six years as a member of the Tempe Leadership Board of Directors, where he actively participated in several committees, including Tempe Cares and Tempe Youth Leadership.  Jennings continues to serve on the Tempe Youth Leadership committee and has been a huge resource for our young people.

In the community, Jennings served six years on the Board of Tempe Community Council, part of that time as treasurer. As a Tempe business leader, he has participated on the Downtown Tempe Authority Board of Directors for several years and is currently serving as a member of the board of directors for Tempe Neighbors Helping Neighbors. He is a past president, and long-time member, of Kiwanis Club of Tempe as well as serving on its board for several years.  He is an active leader/mentor for Tempe High School’s Key Club, a program supported by the Kiwanis.  Jennings has also been a mentor for New Pathways for Youth.
