Wells Fargo Private Bank today announced Sean McCarthy has been named regional chief investment officer for the Southwest region.
In his new role, McCarthy will be responsible for providing strategic guidance on investments and asset allocation, and maintaining consistent implementation of The Private Bank’s investment strategy to all clients’ portfolios in the region, including Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.
Based in Scottsdale, McCarthy works with a team of 380 investment advisors across the region who provide coordinated and effective delivery of investment strategies to clients in his region.
McCarthy has more than 21 years of experience in the financial services industry. Prior to his current role, he worked with Wells Fargo’s leadership team in the Northeast region serving as the regional investment manager in Philadelphia, Penn. He joined Wells Fargo through the merger with Wachovia, where he held various investment roles, including lead portfolio manager, regional investment manager, and founding member of the Option Strategies Group that designs individualized option strategies for high net worth clients. Before joining Wachovia in 2002, he worked for three years with PaineWebber in Princeton, N.J., and for seven years with Capital Analysts in Radnor, Penn.

McCarthy received his BBA in Finance from the University of Notre Dame. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is a member of the CFA Society of Philadelphia.
