Former Con-way Executive Herb Schmidt Joins Post.Bid.Ship. Board of Directors

Post.Bid.Ship. March 18, 2014

Post.Bid.Ship., the leading online marketplace for the commercial freight industry, announces the appointment of Herb Schmidt, retired president of Con-way Truckload, to its Board of Directors. As Post.Bid.Ship. continues to gain traction within the $740 billion B2B commercial freight industry, this appointment is a significant testament to the company’s continued growth and success.

Schmidt brings a tremendous amount of industry knowledge to Post.Bid.Ship. “We’re excited to welcome an industry veteran of Herb’s caliber to our board,” said Post.Bid.Ship. CEO Jarret Hamstreet. “Herb has spent his entire career working at large trucking companies and selling trucking services to the very largest shippers. His position on the board signifies that Post.Bid.Ship. is already making a positive impact on the overall trucking industry. His experience and knowledge will play a very important role as we continue to grow our freight marketplace and enhance our offerings to meet the needs of carriers, shippers and brokers.”

Having served as the executive vice president of Con-way Inc. and president of Con-way Truckload from 2007 to 2012, Schmidt retired from the company in September of 2012. Prior to the merger of Contract Freighters (CFI) with Con-way Inc. in 2007, Schmidt held positions at CFI as president and CEO, and prior to that, senior vice president of operations and sales. Schmidt has also served on a number of associations, including the Truckload Carriers Association Safety Council as president and the Professional Truck Driving Institute of America as chairman.

While the efficiency and customization options of the Post.Bid.Ship platform were what initially appealed to Schmidt, overall he’s most eager about the platform’s unique concept and its potential to modernize the B2B commercial freight industry. “The Post.Bid.Ship. platform has a lot of legs. It is truly taking the carrier-shipper relationship to the next level by supplying a list of pre-screened options to get the job done – its dynamic capabilities provide a win-win solution for all,” he said. “I’m honored to join Post.Bid.Ship.’s board now as the company is poised to revolutionize the industry. I look forward to both helping to set the direction and to working closely with the leadership team and fellow board members as the company continues to expand.”

Post.Bid.Ship.’s platform helps brokers, shippers and carriers save significant money and time through an automated, Web-based technology that communicates and sells truck space in real time. A two-time winner of the Arizona Innovation Challenge, the company has raised $2.5M to date, with funds coming from the AIC, the Arizona Technology Investor Forum, Desert Angels and Point B Capital.

“Herb is a true industry leader who brings practical, hands-on experience to the Post.Bid.Ship. Board of Directors,” said Brian Armstrong, Point B Capital managing director and Post.Bid.Ship. Board of Directors member. “His insight and support will be immeasurable in helping Post.Bid.Ship. build the right partnerships while meeting and exceeding industry needs. As with all Point B Capital investments, we are pleased to see someone with Herb’s credibility and experience recognize the potential within the company.”

In addition to serving on the Post.Bid.Ship. Board of Directors, Schmidt is also a member of the board of directors for Covenant Transport, Empire District Electric Company and Daylight Transport.
