Commercial real estate veterans Steve Backman and Tracy Hammer announce the launch of their new joint venture BH DevCo, a real estate development company specializing in build-to-suit delivery for national tenants in the e-commerce, distribution and fulfillment industries.
“Our brand philosophy was built around the growing synergy between distribution, retail and industrial uses,” said Backman. “Tracy and I have three focuses in our new venture: first, serving our existing client relationships that we have developed in fulfillment and distribution; second, leveraging our retail expertise to help transition dark retail centers to new delivery stations; and lastly, working with emerging users in the e-commerce industry.”
BH DevCo is the developer of the distribution center recently announced in partnership with Bernalillo County in the Albuquerque, New Mexico market. Bernalillo County is providing over $6M to fund public infrastructure for a regional employment hub. This exciting development comes on the heels of the company’s brand launch and one year anniversary, and serves as BH DevCo’s first major project with many more announcements on the horizon.

In the last five years, Backman and Hammer have delivered in excess of 6 million square feet of industrial space, and currently have more than 3 million square feet in development or under construction. BH DevCo was founded in 2019 to fully realize the development opportunities that exist in the combination of distribution centers within retail and industrial environments.
