A Look Inside Sedona’s Ambiente, North America’s First Landscape Hotel

Ambiente: A Landscape Hotel

The first of its kind in North America, Ambiente: A Landscape Hotel is currently slated to open its doors to the public early 2021, and Sedona developer Two Sister Bosses has revealed a first glance into the luxurious design elements, furnishings and amenities that future travelers can look forward to.

Uniquely designed to blend in with the surrounding geography, Ambiente is being constructed with a deep respect for the environment, with a focus on sustainable methods and organic, modern architecture that complements the neighboring topography and minimizes the impact on the land. The hotel is comprised of 40 cubed-shaped guest Atriums that are elevated above the ground by steel piers to offer customized, striking, 360-degree views of Sedona’s infamous red rocks and the surrounding Coconino National Forest.

Each private guest Atrium, built using matte-charcoal colored metal and floor-to-ceiling, bronze-tinted glass walls, will offer contemporary, Earth-toned decor to support a disconnection from everyday life and a reconnection with nature. A lavish hideaway personified, the space will boast a main bedroom accented with a platform bed draped in silky sheets and down bedding, and a well-appointment bathroom with an oversized soaking tub complemented by a fireplace, a walk-in shower ideal for two, heated floors, towel warmers and Le Labo luxury bath products. A sitting area adjacent to the bedroom will be accented by a cozy sectional with plush throw blankets, a hidden, drop-down 65” television and a live-edge wooden coffee table.

“We designed the Atriums with the goal of providing an atmosphere of tranquility and rest that would be enhanced by thoughtful touches at every turn,” said Jennifer May, co-owner of Two Sister Bosses. “There truly is no other place in the world where you can stand in the midst of unbridled nature, surrounded by expansive, unparalleled views of rare red rock formations, all while enjoying the utmost in in luxurious accommodations.”

Many atriums will also have access to their own private rooftop decks with a secure staircase for the ultimate sunbathing and stargazing experience. Lounge seating, a roaring firepit and a day-bed comfortable enough for sleeping alfresco will serve as a remote locale perched between the rugged terrain below and bright, beaming stars clearly visible above thanks to the city of Sedona’s Dark Sky Association. Smart-room technology will also be found embedded throughout, offering one-touch motorized drapery, on-demand movies and music streaming from the bedroom to the rooftop deck.

In addition to the upscale composition of the Atriums, visitors will be treated to numerous high-end amenities both in-room and across the sweeping, three-acre property. Upon arrival, a chilled half bottle of champagne and macaroons await as a decadent welcome gift. A complimentary in-room mini bar, refreshed daily, will include a pour-over coffee station with fresh-roasted local beans, plus snack items like bottled water, nuts, dried fruits, gourmet popcorn and cookies.

The grand experience of a stay at Ambiente, however, begins with the arrival, as guests are greeted by a dramatic entry to the hotel flanked by massive brass sculptures that emit beacons of fire into the night sky. Parking will be by valet only in an effort to keep vehicles off of the main property to prevent degradation to the site. No cars will be permitted to drive anywhere beyond the pathway that leads to a designated parking area. Instead, guests will be encouraged to utilize the hotel’s two-person electrical vehicles that are street safe and will provide access to all of Ambiente’s buildings and services as well as nearby restaurants, outdoor recreation and local businesses.

Upon arrival, guests will be escorted through the check-in process by a personal valet who will guide them into the upstairs level of an ultra-modern, two-story glass and metal lobby building to check-in, relax in the lounge area and enjoy a complimentary cocktail or a glass of wine. A waterfall will spill from the upper level of the building into a pond that feeds the site’s natural waterways. Once check-in is complete, an elevator will deliver guests to the ground floor where they will tour the property via an electric vehicle before arriving at their private Atrium.

Also located inside the main lobby building are meeting spaces, offices and an intimate, two-room spa that will offer in-spa and in-room treatments that exclusively integrate locally-sourced ingredients embodying the healing properties of Sedona.

At the center of the property, a natural, lagoon-inspired pool and spa will be positioned contiguous to an open-air, two-story Poolside Lounge serving fresh, farm-to-table cuisine and locally-sourced juices. The first floor of the lounge will house a full-service, indoor/outdoor bar complete with multiple TVs, ample seating and a catering kitchen. The panoramic rooftop sun deck above features fire pits, cozy lounge seating and programming like rooftop yoga and telescopes for nightly stargazing.

With direct access to more than 300 miles of hiking and biking trails in Sedona as well as premier rock climbing, outdoor adventure and recreational activities, there is no need for an onsite fitness center, and instead Ambiente will encourage guests to explore the outdoors by offering mountain bike rentals and hiking tours. The hotel also boasts exclusive access to the Adobe Jack Trail system, a moderate 1.7-mile hike that connects to an additional seven miles of trails renowned for the picturesque scenery displayed along the way. For those who prefer to explore within hotel grounds, additional wellness trails will weave throughout the site with designated spots to stop and follow instructed exercises that promote overall wellness.
