The State of Arizona is making a strategic expansion of its presence and investment in Mexico, the state’s No. 1 trading partner, and an Arizona delegation will hold a grand opening event and press conference to launch the Arizona Mexico City Trade and Investment Office on October 7, 2014.
While in Mexico City, Arizona’s delegation will be meeting with Mexican government and business leaders for focused discussions in three tracks: 1) Economic Development, Trade and Innovation 2) Infrastructure and Corridor Competitiveness, and 3) international Tourism. The grand opening of the Arizona Mexico City Trade and Investment Office will be the culminating event of the trade mission.
The Arizona office in Mexico City will be led by the Arizona Commerce Authority (ACA), in partnership with the City of Phoenix, and additional funding partners including Maricopa Association of Governments, the City of Tucson and Visit Phoenix. With the support of Governor Jan Brewer and the state legislature, Arizona has made a commitment of $300,000 to the ACA to establish and manage the office, which will create a platform for businesses in both countries to expand their trade and investment opportunities.
Officials expected to attend the grand opening and press conference in Mexico City are E. Anthony Wayne, U.S. Ambassador to Mexico; Andy Tobin, Speaker of the House, Arizona State Legislature; Sandra Watson, president and CEO, Arizona Commerce Authority; Greg Stanton, Mayor of Phoenix; José Antonio Meade, Mexico Secretary of Foreign Relations; Miguel Mancera, Mayor of Mexico City; Alfonso Guajardo, Mexico Secretary of Economy; Congressmen Eloy Cantú, president, Mexico Foreign Relations Committee; and Senator Gabriela Cuevas, president, Mexico Foreign Relations Committee.
