Job Summary

Scottsdale Community College is currently looking for a Public Relations & Marketing Analyst. The Public Relations & Marketing Analyst will perform journey level professional, technical and analytical work in promoting District and/or college activities and services through the planning, development and implementation of public relations and social media services.

Essential Functions

40% - Plans, develops, executes and manages organic social media activities for the College, including content development (copy, graphics) and coordinating with other resources; acts as the College “reporter” in seeking out opportunities for social media and participating in events to take photographs/video.

20% - Acts as the main public relations point of contact for local media outlets, including developing story ideas, pitching and placing stories, fielding media interviews, and ensuring consistent positive editorial coverage for SCC.

10% - Writes press releases and/or blog/editorial content; and coordinates with other writing contractors as needed

10% - Acts as a marketing communications generalist in supporting other related projects as needed.

10% - Performs other duties as assigned

  5% - Identifies and develops relationships with local bloggers and online influencers in order to gain coverage for the College as appropriate.

  5% - Participates, as needed, in paid social media activities.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in public relations, marketing, journalism or related field and two years (full-time equivalent) of professional journey level experience in developing and implementing public relations, social media and marketing activities, projects and campaigns.

OR

Associate’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in public relations, marketing, journalism or related field and four years (full-time equivalent) of professional journey level experience in developing and implementing public relations and marketing activities, projects and campaigns.

OR

An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.

Desired Qualifications

  1. Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in journalism, marketing, communications or related field.
  2. Three (3) or more years’ experience in media relations strategy, demonstrating a deep portfolio of successful social media campaigns and content creation.
  3. Three (3) or more years’ experience of writing and creating content to be published in third party media outlets, demonstrating a deep portfolio of editorial/PR placements.
  4. Experience in developing highly successful campaigns for multiple social media platforms (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube, SnapChat, and more).
  5. Working knowledge and skillset in production artwork supporting social media content development.
  6. Experience with digital marketing/digital content creation best practices (email marketing, SEO, Google Analytics, lead generation activities, etc).
  7. Experience in public relations and marketing in higher education.
