Job Description

Provide case management services for families in crisis to promote stabilization and prevent placement of children in the home.  Provide therapeutic visitation supervision and family coaching to families and children during scheduled appointments in the Community.  

* Please note this is a part-time position with up to 29 hours per week *

 

I.  DIRECT SERVICE:

 

  • Provide crisis management whenever called to a family’s home
  • Assist with the orientation of families to program guidelines and expectations
  • Provide education around trauma and its effects on children and families.
  • Provide information and contacts for community resources
  • Provide appropriate level of supervision and intervention required by the referral source.
  • Utilize coaching and modeling strategies to align with and engage families using trauma informed care principles
  • Participate in Family Team Meetings
  • Testify in court as needed
  • Cooperate with the development of a treatment plan
  • Develop goals for visitation and/ or coaching with the input of the Case Worker and the family
  • Provide concrete services in the home as needed to include organization, cleaning, structure, and activities.
  • Attend Team meetings as specified by the supervisor and discuss progress to determine possible changes or other adjustments to schedules and treatment goals and objectives. 
  • Work a flexible schedule that may specify part-time or as needed PRN scheduling, including evenings and weekends, and be available for crisis support when requested. Scheduled hours and days may vary for PRN staff in order to meet current staffing needs.
  • Staff may be required to use their own vehicle for transportation of clients and must be able to provide their own transportation to and from their assigned place of work.
  • Staff may be expected to assist client in accessing community resources
  • Staff are expected to build a working relationship with the parent or caretaker and teach and model appropriate limit setting and follow through. 
  • Assist with development of parenting skills, education and implementation of trauma informed care principles with clients.
  • Maintain high degree of confidentiality regarding client case materials.
  • Report immediately any incidents of alleged abuse or neglect.
  • Complete documentation within established time frames

Qualifications

IV: QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Qualifications:

·         Minimum Bachelor’s degree

·         Experience working with children and families

 

Preferred Qualifications:

·         Experience working in a Child Welfare related position for facilitation of  supervised visits and to provide moderate parent coaching

·         Master’s Degree for higher levels of therapeutic supervision and intervention up to and including components of family therapy and family child interactional observations.

 

 

V. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

1.     Effective organizational skills including the ability to think clearly and logically; to problem solve effectively; written and oral communication skills; and the ability to function with minimal supervision.

2.     Knowledge of local agencies and other community resources that may serve youth, families, and foster care services.

 

VI. Other Requirements:

1.     Must be willing to submit for fingerprinting and a background criminal check.

2.     Background criminal check must meet the Colorado State Department of Social Services requirements for personnel working in the child welfare system. 

3.     Must not have any positive inquiries found in the grievance board database.

4.     Must have current driver’s license, insurance and registration with no significant violations
