Taylor Morrison Home Corporation, a leading homebuilder and developer in North America, has received the 2014 Builder of the Year honor from Green Home Builder magazine, a national trade publication focused on certified housing and energy-efficient and environmentally responsible building practices.

Taylor Morrison utilizes several environmentally-friendly building and development practices in many of its homes and communities. Through recycling programs, Taylor Morrison limits or reuses building material waste on the majority of jobsites. Additionally, the Company also uses sustainable materials and develops homes that allow for maximized energy efficiency, as implemented with the Elem3nts program. The Elem3nts program provides homes with eco-sensitive features, reducing waste and helping homeowners save money.
Taylor Morrison uses the Home Energy Rating System (HERS) as an industry benchmark when building energy efficient homes. The lower the HERS score the better. A standard new home today will typically score in the high 90s; Taylor Morrison homes routinely score in the low 60s by using innovative building products like radiant barriers, higher R-value insulation and low-E windows.
Additional sustainable options available to homebuyers are innovative storm water management, water efficient landscaping design, high-efficiency building systems and refrigerant management.
In addition to implementing “green” practices in home building, Taylor Morrison is also dedicated to preserving and repurposing land. In 2013, Taylor Morrison dedicated or developed 3,253 acres of perpetual open space to communities that the company was working on. That would be the equivalent of approximately 52,000 tennis courts, 3,025 football fields or nearly 4 Central Parks.
